The war on Iran ended
According to Al Arabiya:
At a British initiative, military personnel from 30 countries discuss post-war security in the Strait of Hormuz.
Efforts aim to translate diplomatic consensus on Hormuz into practical military planning.
The British government announced that military personnel from more than 30 countries met on Tuesday to discuss appropriate measures to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains accessible and secure should a ceasefire be reached in the Middle East conflict.Britain hosted military representatives in a videoconference following a UK-led diplomatic meeting last week with some 40 countries to discuss the situation in the vital Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively closed since early March.
A statement from the British Ministry of Defence said the participants considered appropriate measures that an international coalition could take to make the Strait of Hormuz open and secure once hostilities cease.
This is part of efforts to translate diplomatic consensus on the Strait of Hormuz into practical military planning, the statement added, noting that another planning conference will be held "in due course." The ministry did not allow the media to attend the meeting, but it posted a short video on social media showing British officials participating in the call from the permanent headquarters of the Joint Command, located northwest of London, which is the UK's command center for overseeing and managing joint military operations around the world.
The Strait of Hormuz has been virtually closed since the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran on February 28, impacting global supplies of oil, liquefied natural gas, and fertilizers. This has led to a sharp rise in energy prices.
At a diplomatic meeting hosted by British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper last Thursday, representatives from some 40 countries called for the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
